Wines & Spirits Education Trust - Wset - Curso de Vinhos!

Ouvi falar pela primeira vez da WSET durante o tempo do mestrado da OIV. E foi numa conversa informal que me fui apercebendo que grande parte dos meus colegas já tinham feito o WSET ou, preparavam-se para fazê-lo em breve.

Durante o mestrado da OIV, quando nos encontrávamos em Londres, fez parte do nosso plano de visitas uma breve passagem pelo centro da WSET onde tivemos uma pequena aula em que o tema desenvolvido foi a Técnica Sistemática de Prova de Vinhos da WSET. Aproveitei a oportunidade para comprar o livro do nível 3, livro este que nos dá uma visão global de muitas regiões vitivinícolas a nível Mundial. Era mesmo o que precisava para me acompanhar durante as diversas viagens que ainda nos faltavam até ao final do Mestrado. 

O WSET é uma instituição de ensino que nasceu devido à necessidade de capacitar profissionais e claro o público em geral, num mercado que é referência mundial, o Britânico. 

Os cursos WSET são uma referência a nível internacional - 62 países - e esta instituição britânica é conhecido como sendo uma das melhores escolas do Mundo a leccionar formação sobre vinhos e bebidas espirituosas.

Em Portugal, a Direct Wine, especializada empresa de vinhos, é um excelente Centro Certificado da WSET, leccionando os cursos de vinhos e espirituosas das qualificações nível 1, 2 e 3. Tanto os cursos como o respectivo material de apoio são integralmente em Português. Os formadores, Manuel Lima e Raul Riba D'Ave, são detentores em Portugal do nível 4 desta escola, o Diploma da WSET. 

E foi no passado mês de Maio que me decidi inscrever no nível 3 do WSET. O curso foi ministrado pela Direct Wine e, teve lugar no Penha Longa Resort - Arola, Sintra. Após a inscrição no curso (deverá ser feito com algum tempo de antecedência) o material de estudo é enviado para a nossa morada e deveremos começar o estudo o quanto antes. É-nos aconselhado a estudar no mínimo 50 horas antes do inicio do curso, para um melhor aproveitamento das aulas. O curso teve a duração de 5 dias, com aulas bastante intensivas das 9 às 18, seguindo-se o exame, dois dias após o último dia de aulas.

O nível 3 permite-nos ter uma visão detalhada dos principais vinhos e espirituosos do Mundo. Para além de ser bem explorada a parte da produção do vinho, países como França, Itália, Portugal, Espanha, Alemanha, Europa Central e do Sudoeste, África do Sul, Austrália, Nova Zelândia, América do Norte, América do Sul e América Central, são analisados em profundidade. Após o estudo de cada países, são degustados diferentes vinhos. Vinhos espumantes, fortificados, espirituosos, licores e informações e conselhos para clientes e funcionários fazem também parte do programa.

Foi como reviver os 11 meses de viagens da OIV em 5 dias =)

Aconselho este curso vivamente. 

I heard for the first time what was the WSET during the time of the OIV master's degree. And it was in an informal conversation that went, noticing that my friends' great part had already made WSET or, they got ready to do it soon.

During the OIV master's degree, when we were in London, we visited the center of WSET where we had a small class about Systematic Approach to Tasting. I took advantage of the opportunity to buy the book of the level 3, it gives us a global vision of a lot of wine regions around the World. It was really what I needed to accompany me during the several trips that still lacked us to the end of the Master's degree.

WSET is a teaching institution that was born due to the need of qualifying professionals and clear the public in general, in a market that is world reference, the British.

The WSET courses are an  International Reference - 62 countries - and this British Institution is known as being one of the best schools of the World.

In Portugal, Direct Wine, specialized company of wines, is an excellent Certified Center of WSET, who teaches the courses of wines and spirits of the qualification level 1, 2 and 3. The classes and the respective support material are integrally in Portuguese. The teacher's, Manuel Lima and Raul Riba Of Ave, they are holders in Portugal of the level 4 of this school, the Diploma of WSET.

And it was in the past month of May that I decided to enroll in the level 3 of WSET. The course was supplied by Direct Wine and, had place at Penha Longa Resort - Arola, Sintra. After the registration in the course (it should be done with some time of antecedence) the study material is sent to our home and we should begin the study as soon as possible. It is us advised to study at least 50 hours before begin the course, for a better use of the classes. The course had the duration of 5 days, with quite intensive classes from 9 to 18h, being followed the exam, two days after the last day of classes.

The level 3 allows us to have a detailed vision of the main wines and spirits of the World. Besides being well explored the part of the production of the wine, countries as France, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Germany, Europa Central and of the Southwest, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, North America, South America and América Central, they are analyzed in depth. After the study of each country, different wines are tasted. Sparkling wines, fortified, spirits, liqueurs and information and pieces of advice for customers and employees are also part of the program.

It was as reliving the 11 months of trips of OIV in 5 days =)
